James Stewart Williams Jr.

March 18, 1949 — February 9, 2010

Mr. James Stewart Williams Jr., age 60, of Laurel Drive in Sandersville, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February the 12th at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church of Sandersville with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens. Rev. Lee Lacey, Rev. Rick Freeman and Rev. Darell Young will officiate. Pallbearers will be Johnny Durden, Chris Boyd, Emmett Hall, Bobby Garner, Stan Garner and Eddy Turner.

Jimmy was born in Washington County the son of the late James S. Williams Sr. and the late Martha Smith Williams Howell. He worked as a millwright in the kaolin industry and retired as a maintenance supervisor for the J.M. Huber Corporation. Jimmy had a life long passion with motor sports and loved being a car hobbyist. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was an Army Veteran serving in South Korea.

Survivors are his wife Terri Avant Williams, children, Jess Stewart Williams (Jeri) of Sandersville and Leanne Williams McGowan (Chris) of Augusta, grandchildren, Gambill Williams, Maggie Williams, Annalee McGowan, Lillian McGowan, Henry McGowan and Abe Williams, his sister Susan Williams Wygant (Roger) of Tennille and mother and father-in-law Joanne and Hut Avant of Sandersville.

The family will be at their residence on Laurel Drive in Sandersville and will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.

Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Sandersville 316 Mathis Circle Sandersville, GA. 31082 or to the United Hospice 667 S. Main St., Swainsboro, GA. 30401.

May and Smith Funeral Directors of Sandersville is in charge of these arrangements.
