Jane Cummings Lawrence

Mrs. Jane Cummings Lawrence, age 85 of Walden Road in Sandersville, passed away at her residence on Saturday, March 11, 2023. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of May and Smith Funeral Home, with burial in Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Jason Loggins will officiate. Pallbearers will be Pete Mchan, Allen Lawrence, Andy Garrett, and Chris Napier. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.

Mrs. Lawrence was born February 18, 1938, the daughter of the late James Richard Cummings and the late Johnnie Garrett Cummings. She was a very Godly woman, who used her talents serving multiple churches as a pianist, serving most recently at Sister’s Baptist Church for over 20 years. Mrs. Lawrence was a true caregiver, doing her best to care for her children and grandchildren. She always put other’s needs before her own. Mrs. Lawrence was a member of Sisters Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her husband, Robert H. Lawrence, Jr. and her brother, Billy Cummings.

Mrs. Lawrence is survived by her children, Marjorie Lawrence Crosby of Sandersville, Jim Lawrence and his wife Kara of Amelia Island, Florida, and Marie Lawrence Prosser; grandchildren, Chris Crosby (Samantha) of Stapleton, Hannah C. Kelly (Jesse) of Tennille, Garrett Lawrence (Brieanne) of Orlando, Florida, Joshua Prosser and Benjamin Prosser; great grandchildren, Brett Black, Chana Kelly, and Carsyn Kelly; brother-in-law, Wayne Lawrence and his wife Gloria of Sandersville; and many nieces and nephews.
