Mrs. Jane S. Pate, age 94, of Park Avenue in Sandersville, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Washington County Extended Care Facility. A graveside funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, February 23 rd at 11:00 a.m. at Davisboro City Cemetery. Reverend Stan Littleton will officiate. Family will greet friends following the graveside service in the cemetery.
Mrs. Pate was born and reared in Taylor County, the daughter of the late Thomas Saunders and the late Mattie Lou Byrd Saunders. After graduating high school, Mrs. Pate attended Georgia State College for Women, where she obtained a degree in home economics. She began her working career as a school teacher in Davisboro prior to working for the Department of Family and Children’s Services, from which she retired. In retirement, Mrs. Pate became a licensed practical nurse and worked at Washington County Regional Medical Center. She was a longtime active member of Sandersville United Methodist Church, where she participated in the United Methodist Women's group and formerly taught Sunday School. Mrs. Pate cherished attending grandchildren’s events and family gatherings. She also loved to sew. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pate is predeceased by her husband, James Patrick "Pat" Pate Sr., and her son, James Patrick "Jim" Pate Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynn P. Bonifay and her husband Brannon of Sandersville; grandchildren, Cassie Faglier (Tracy), April Faglier (Stacy), Brandi McGoldrick (Michael) and Andy Bonifay (Anna Kathrine); great-grandchildren, Jayna Prescott, Taylor Prescott, Liam McGoldrick and Brooks Bonifay; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Pate.
