Jane S. Smith, age 84, of Riddleville, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, February 26th, at 2:00 p.m., at Riddleville Baptist Church, with burial in New Family Cemetery. Reverend Allen Wiggins and Reverend Mike Ogden will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gregg Anderson, Shannon Anderson, Keith Drake, Benjamin Anderson, Chuck Reiner, John Brooker and Mark Cabe. Honorary Pallbearers will be the men of New Beginnings in Christ Recovery Home. Mrs. Smith’s family will greet friends on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service, in the church social hall.
Mrs. Smith was born at home, in Riddleville, the daughter of the late Herschel L. Smith, Sr and Okella Josey Smith. She grew up in Riddleville and graduated from Sandersville High School, where she was crowned Miss SHS of 1958 and played basketball, along with her team, earning a state championship. Jane spent most of her working career as a beautician and later helped with the family businesses, commercial fishing and HVAC. She had a love of growing flowers and working in her yards, but most of all, a love for her family and grandchildren. Jane was very involved with New Beginnings in Christ, a ministry to help men on their road to recovery from addiction, and she was passionate about her weekly prayer card ministry. Her relationship with Christ was the most important aspect of her life. Jane was a member of Riddleville Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer B. Smith; sister, Faye McDonough; and brothers, H.L. Smith and David Smith.
Jane is survived by her children, Gregg Anderson (Jeannette), Shannon Anderson (Dena); grandchildren, Keith Drake (Allison), Elizabeth Price (Mack), Sierra Anderson, Benjamin Anderson; great-grandchildren, Amaris Drake, Bryer Price, Charleigh Price and Jack Price; sisters, Hazel Warren (Robbie) and Sue Higgonbotham; sister-in-law, Shelvie Smith and other family and friends.
