Mrs. Janice K. Hood Hobbs, age 71, of Deepstep, died Thursday, August 10, 2017. A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 13 th at 3:00 p.m. at Deepstep United Methodist Church. Reverend Larry Giles and Reverend Jason McClendon will officiate.
Mrs. Hobbs was born and raised in Forsyth, Monroe County, the daughter of the late Arthur King and the late Marion Allen King. For 27 years, Janice worked as the bus driver for Brentwood School. She possessed a love for music and shared her musical talent a numerous occasions during her life. She was a longtime musician at Deepstep UMC and later served as organist for Mt. Tabor Church near Harlem. Mrs. Hobbs is predeceased by her husband, Hugh Howell Hobbs and her sister, Barbara K. Shott.
Survivors are: her sons, Clay Hood and Ryan Hood and his wife Kelly all of Deepstep; grandchildren, Bryce Hood and Evie Hood; sisters, Virginia K. Remick and her husband Elmo and Nancy K. Waller all of Forsyth; a special friend, Maureen Ware; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
