Janie Lee Ellis Brantley

Sandersville

Janie Lee Ellis Brantley, age 71, of Edgar Lane, Sandersville, died Thursday, December 26, 2024 at her residence.  A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, December 29th at 3:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tom Aiken officiating.  A family only graveside committal will follow at the McCoy Family Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Joey Ellis, Wes Lingold, Frank Williams, Brice Rhodes, Steve Corbett and Brian West.  Janie's family will greet friends Sunday at 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.

Janie was a native and lifelong Sandersville resident, daughter of the late J.C. Ellis and the late Reba Waters Brown.  She graduated from Washington County High School and began a lifelong career as a seamstress.  She worked for a number of garment manufacturers including Royal Manufacturing, William Carter Company and Forstman Industries from which she retired.  Following retirement, Janie returned to school at Sandersville Technical College and then worked for Beckham's Car Sales.  She loved working puzzles, feeding her birds and caring for her flowers. Janie favorite pastime was fishing.  Above all, she cherished her family and loved cooking for them, hosting family events especially around holidays.  In addition to her parents, Janie is also predeceased by her brother, Johnny Ellis.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Yates of Sandersville; children, Jammy McCoy and his wife Shalena of Sandersville, Robert Yates Jr. of Tennille, Travis Yates and his wife Hillary and Jeffrey Yates and his wife Rose all of Sandersville; grandchildren, Ridge McCoy and his wife Madison, Emalee McCoy, Bailee McCoy, Charli Yates, Dylan Yates, Brooklyn Yates, Lainey Yates, Abby Yates, Libby Yates and Jeffrey Yates, Jr.; siblings, Faye West of Sandersville, Frankie Ellis and his wife Latrell of Rock Mart and Ricky Ellis and his wife Charlene of Tennille and her sister-in-law Gail Ellis of Tennille.
