Miss Janie Usry, age 66, of Mitchell, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in a Savannah Hospital following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, October 10 th at 3:00 p.m. in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mitchell Cemetery. Reverend Mary Griswell will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ron Chalker, Ronnie Chalker, John Hollie, Matthew Chalker, David Logan and Scott Lamb. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Family request social distancing and mask.
Janie was a lifelong resident of Mitchell. She spent most of her working career at Garland Manufacturing and also worked for Jet Food Stores. Janie possessed a great love for flowers loved to crochet and knit. Her favorite place to travel was the beach. She was known as a kindhearted person and took great pride in all her nieces and nephews. Janie is predeceased by, her parents, Thomas Ray and Dorothy Snider Usry; grandparents, Allen and Eva Snider; brother, Danny Ray Usry and his wife Lisa; brother-in-law, Robby Jones; niece, Kellie Chalker and nephew-in-law, Bud Pulliam.
Janie is survived by her sisters, Debbie Chalker and her husband Ronnie of Mitchell and Alaine Logan Jones of Avera; nieces and nephews, Christie Hayslip, Ron Chalker, Carrie Usry, Matthew Chalker, Lacey Williams and Tiffany Pulliam and great nieces and nephews, Ethan Usry, Landon Williams, Hadley Pulliam, Dani Rae Williams and Henry Pulliam.
