Ms. Jacque Lawson, age 74, of Riddleville, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, July 28th at 11:00 a.m. in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Gary Cobb will officiate and the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Jacqueline Ann Colgan was born and raised in Peoria Illinois, where she graduated high school, excelled at dance and worked as a dance instructor. Jacque moved with her family to southern California where she lived and worked for many years. She managed a network of mercantile and food service stores for a management company serving the state of California Park Service. Later she and her late husband Will moved to Washington County, Georgia to be near family. Jacque first managed the Bo Jangles restaurant in Wrightsville, prior to working as a customer service representative for Jefferson EMC from which she retired. She cherished her flowers and working in her yards. Jacque possessed a green thumb and loved to cut grass. She liked being home and had a love for animals, often taking in stray cats.
She is predeceased by her father Donald Colgan and husband Will Lawson.
Survivors include her son, Nic Lawson and his wife Diane of Davisboro; granddaughter Jessica Lawson of Augusta, her mother Bonnie Norin of Illinois, her significant other and companion Buddy Mosley of Davisboro; and siblings, Don Colgan, Terry Colgan and Christie Defilippi all of Illinois.
