Jean Cobb Kent

Mrs. Jean Cobb Kent, age 84, of Davisboro, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at the Washington County Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 31st at 11:00am at the Friendship Baptist Church, 8180 Friendship Church Road, Bartow, Georgia, with burial in the Church Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Keener will officiate. Pallbearers will be Rodney Cobb, Gary Cobb, Earl Davidson, Frank Cobb Jr., Chris Tanner and Chad Tanner. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Washington County Pilot Club and the Washington County Department of Family and Children Services Retirees.

Mrs. Kent was a native of Washington County the daughter of the late Orvelle Cobb and the late Lillie Belle Yates Cobb. She was predeceased by her husband Remus Hall Kent, her sister Agnes Cobb Davidson and two brothers Frank Cobb, Sr. and Royce Cobb. She retired from the Washington County Department of Family and Children Services. She was a charter member of the Washington County Pilot Club and a charter member of the Friendship Baptist Church where she served as clerk from 1954 to 1994. She was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and Keenagers.

Survivors are her children: Karen Kent (Randy) Franklin of Perry and Randy (Sharon) Kent of Davisboro; grandchildren, Steven (Nicole) Franklin of Perry, Kent (Kalah) Franklin of Mansfield Texas, Stephanie Kent (Jason) Patterson and Brad Kent both of Davisboro; great-grandchildren, Evan Franklin, Coen Franklin, Jacob Patterson, and Haleigh Patterson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be at the Kent residence on Breezy Hill Road, Davisboro and they will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 7pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home, 1119 Riddleville Road, Sandersville, Georgia.
