Jean Claire Lembke

Ms. Jean Claire Lembke, "Chinker", age 52 of Sandersville, Georgia, formerly of Ossining, New York, passed away on Monday, June 23rd, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 9th, 2014 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. Paster Chad Waller will officiate.

Jean was a native of Yorktown Heights, New York, the daughter of Clinton Richard Lembke and the late Evelyn Whalen Lembke. Jean spent her teaching and administrative career at Clearview School in Briarcliff Manor, New York. She received her undergraduate degree in teaching followed by a Master's degree in Special Education from Mercy College, New York. She also received an additional Master's degree in Supervision and Administration from the College of New Rochelle, New York.

She taught children who suffered emotionally and needed special care, love, and direction, which she so graciously gave them. Because of her wonderful gifts and talents, her students were able to enjoy many of life's wonderful experiences. After retiring from her position with Clearview, she moved to Sandersville to be close to her twin sister, Jane L. Colson, brother-in-law, Ronnie, and nephew Ben.

For the past few years, Jean has been working with the Washington County Senior Center, where she has met and grown to love her "Senior Friends". She attended Victory Central Church in Tennille, where she especially loved listening to their Praise and Worship Band.

Survivors include her father, Clinton Lembke of Yorktown Heights, NY; brother, Jim Lembke (Mary Ann) of Casper, WY; sister, Colonel (Ret) Janice Lemke Dombi (Joe) of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX; twin sister, Jane Lembke Colson (Ronnie) of Sandersville, GA; and brother John Lembke (Eileen) of Yorktown Heights, NY. Jean was also blessed to have several nieces and nephews: Clinton Lembke, Jillian Lembke, Ian Lembke, and Ben Colson.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request memorials be given to the Washington County Senior Center or the City of Sandersville Animal Shelter. May and Smith Funeral Diretors in Sandersville is in charge of these arrangements.
