Mrs. Jean B. Reahard of Griffin, Georgia, formerly a resident of Coral Gables, Florida, and Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away October 24, 2014. Mrs. Reahard, age 96, was born August 2, 1918 in Rochester, New York.
As a young person she and her family traveled seasonally between New York and West Palm Beach, Florida. She met her husband of 59 years, Jean F. Reahard, Jr. while she was working at the US Sugar company in Clewiston, Florida. They were married in 1943 and in 1945 they moved to Lima, Peru when he began a career in commercial airline flying. Mrs. Reahard enjoyed traveling with her husband wherever he flew around the world, flower gardening, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, and she loved to sing the big band tunes of her era. For the past 12 years Mrs. Reahard has been a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Griffin as well as the Covenant Sunday School Class, the Wednesday Morning Women’s Bible Study, and Mrs. Camille Berry’s Monthly Bible Study. Above all she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Mrs. Reahard is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Judy and Dave Carmolli of Sebring, Florida, her son and daughter-in-law Jean F. (Chip) Reahard III and Robin G. Reahard of Williamson, Georgia, grandson Christopher (Chris) J. Williams and wife Karen of Pinecrest, Florida, and grandson Jean F. (Jef) Reahard IV of Griffin, Georgia. Mrs. Reahard is also survived by her great grandchildren Christa Hufstetler, Shelby Lynn Williams, Natalie Anne Williams, Tony Ryan Williams, Valerie Christine Williams and Kaitlyn Marie Williams. Surviving nieces and nephews include Mary Anne Wandelt, James B. Riggle, and Leslie Pritchard.
Mrs. Reahard was preceded in death by her husband Jean F. Reahard, Jr. and her grandson Edward H. (Trace) Williams III.
Visitation with the family is scheduled at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home in Griffin, Georgia, on Wednesday, October 29 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted by Pastor Drew Elling at First Presbyterian Church of Griffin, Georgia on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be conducted at Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville, Georgia at 4:00 p.m.
