Jeanette Young Bussell

Mrs. Jeanette Young Bussell, age 83 of Sandersville, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of May and Smith Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bussell was born in Alamo, Georgia, the daughter of the late Samuel and Gracie Lee Carr Young. She was a medical receptionist, working for Doctors Helton, Rawlings, and Traer, and retiring from Dr. Mark Harvey’s office. Mrs. Bussell loved to read and put together puzzles. She was an avid wrestling fan. Mrs. Bussell was of the Nazarene faith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Bussell; and sister, Margaret Harry.

Mrs. Bussell is survived by her son, Ken Sheppard of Riddleville; daughter, Pam Sheppard Brown (James) of Sandersville; grandchildren, Bert Clifton (Jess), Carol Lockwood, Jessica Brown Dowd (Russ), Kevin Brown (Charlsie), and Daniel Brown (Emily); 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Donald Young (Martha) of Oklahoma City; and sister, Sandra Soper of Albertville, Alabama.

The family would like to thank Leigh Thigpen, Altressa Rouse, Shelley Napier and the staff of Affinis Hospice for the compassionate care given to their mother.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Mrs. Bussell’s memory to Affinis Hospice, 2945 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30909.
