Jerry B. Byrd

Jerry B. Byrd, age 62, of Sandersville, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 31st at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Sandersville with Reverends Lee Lacey, Scott McDade and Rick Freeman officiating. The family will greet friends in the social hall of the church following the memorial service.

Jerry was born in Savannah the son of the late Bevian Ellis Byrd and the late Eloise Hamilton Byrd. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County and retired from Imerys as a laboratory technician following a 36 year career in the Kaolin Industry. In retirement, Jerry was the owner and operator of A.J. Recovery and Cleaning Service. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Sandersville where he served as the current church Sunday School Director. Jerry was a US Army Veteran.

Survivors include: his wife, Reita Lawson Byrd of Sandersville; children, Chris Byrd and his wife Lisa of East Dublin, Jamie B. Boatright and her husband Adam of Swainsboro, Katy B. Hood and her husband Shannon of Wrightsville, Dawn M. Osborne of Sandersville, and Ralph W. Mosley and his wife Kymberly A. of Davisboro; nine grandchildren; and his brother, Barry Ellis Byrd and his wife Elizabeth of Knoxville TN.

Donations may be made to the “Love in Action” fund at the First Baptist Church of Sandersville, 316 Mathis Circle, Sandersville, GA 31082 in memory of Jerry.
