Jessie Elizabeth Cochran

Jessie Elizabeth Cochran, age 63, of Midville passed away on Monday, August 17th following an extended illness. A graveside memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, August 20th at 11:00 a.m. in Zeta Cemetery, in Tennille. Reverend Randy Carnley will officiate. Her family will receive friends following the graveside service.

Jessie was born and raised in Washington County, daughter of the late Wilbur Jessie Tompkins and the late Ida Elizabeth Sellars. She began her working career in the grocery store business, first working in the deli and later as a dairy manager. She later worked for the Villa South restaurant as a hostess. Jessie live throughout middle Georgia and most recently resided in Midville, where she worked in custodial work at Georgia Southern University and lastly, she worked again in food service at Swainsboro Elementary School. One of Jessie’s favorite pastimes was sitting on the dock and fishing. She loved animals, especially her dog Betty Jean. Jessie spent lots of time keeping up with friends on Facebook and watching old tv shows. In addition to her parents, she is also predeceased by her sister, Kathy Lynn Brantley. 

Survivors include her husband Charles Cochran of Midville; children, Bryan Hodges and his wife Mary of Oconee and Lisa Sinclair and her husband James of Portal and grandchildren, John Taylor Hodges, Kira Taylor, Caroline Hodges, Mac Hodges, Mary Calhoun, Nathan Calhoun, Hannah Calhoun and Hunter Sinclair and her sister, Ruth Sellars.
