Jimmie "Bubba" Barlow, Jr.

July 12, 1960 — August 17, 2025

Tennille

Jimmie William "Bubba" Barlow, Jr., passed away peacefully at his residence on August 17, 2025, at the age of 65, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.  A family and friends gathering to celebrate Bubba's life will be held on Thursday, August 21st from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.

Bubba was born on July 12, 1960, son of the late Jimmie W. Barlow Sr. and the late Doris Jeanette Jones Barlow.  He was a lifelong resident of Washington County and attended Washington County Schools. Bubba began his working career in construction prior to a long career with Lapp Insulator, where he worked in production.  He concluded his working career with Midway Straw in Wrightsville, where he was known as a participant in creating the large American flag out of hay bales.

Bubba possessed a passion for motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons.  He loved firearms and enjoyed target shooting.  Bubba was also a lover of music, primarily "southern classic rock".  He was musically talented playing the harmonica and the Saxophone.  He was known for his warm heart and easy smile; he had a natural gift for making friends wherever he went. His sense of humor, kindness and genuine spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Survivors include his loving companion for eight years, Marvlyn Anderson, who remained by his side throughout his illness, and his beloved dog, Festus, who was never far from his feet.  His brother, Kenny Barlow and his wife Teresa of Sandersville, many nieces and nephews who adored their "Uncle Bubba", numerous cousins and a faithful friend and care giver, Chris Jones and his wife Paula of Davisboro.

Bubba loved life's simple pleasures: time with family, long talks with friends, and quiet days at home with Marvlyn and Festus.  His memory will be cherished by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Donations may be made to Georgia Hospice Care, 111 Hilcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA. 31021.
