Jimmie Dudley Walker, Sr., age 82, passed away on October 11, 2021 at Greene Point Health and Rehabilitation in Union Point, Georgia. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 16th at 2:00 pm at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery, Macon, GA with Reverend Gary Walker officiating.
Jimmie was a native of Macon, Georgia and attended Bruce Elementary School, Lanier Jr. and Sr. High Schools and was a member of Mable White Memorial Baptist Church. While at Lanier he served as drum major of the Lanier band and the ROTC band. He continued his education at The University of Georgia where he earned a degree in Business Administration and was a member Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. While at UGA he played tuba in the Redcoat Band.
Jimmie was president and CEO of Jim’s Minit Markets, Inc. headquartered in Elberton, Georgia which he founded in 1970. Prior to this he served as hospital administrator for Elbert Memorial Hospital in Elberton and Liberty Memorial Hospital in Hinesville, Georgia. He took part in the founding of the Georgia Association of Convenience Stores in 1973 and served from 1973 to 1982 as a director on the board of this association. He had been a member of the University of Georgia Presidents Club, The Bulldog Club and The Redcoat Band Alumni Association.
He is survived by five children Jim Walker, Jr. (Lisa), Atlanta; Judi Swords (Mark), Byron, GA; Jenny Davis (Steve), Maryville, TN; Denny Walker (Lisa), Greenwood, SC; Amy Walker, Winterville, GA along with thirteen grandchildren. Also, he is survived by his brother, Gary Walker (Barbara), Greensboro, GA; two uncles - Carroll A. Walker (Marianna), Macon, GA and Donald Walker (Elizabeth), Warthen, GA; and one aunt, Claude Bellew (Warthen, GA) along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents J. C. Walker and Mary Dudley Walker
