Mr. Brantley was born in Washington County, the son of the late William Bartow Brantley and the late Emma Lee Layton Brantley. He spent most of his working career with the railroad, beginning with the Central of Georgia Railroad at age 19, and retiring from Norfolk Southern. Mr. Brantley was very industrious and a hard worker, but he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was member of the Son’s of the American Revolution, as well as an avid genealogist who could trace his family history back multiple generations. Mr. Brantley’s greatest attribute was his generous and giving nature. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and member of Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon. Mr. Brantley was a wonderful husband and father and loved his family deeply.
Mr. Brantley is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandra Parker Brantley; sons, Benjamin Matthew Brantley and his wife Anna of Loganville, and David William Brantley and his wife Dawn of Evans; grandchildren, Lucas, Emma, William, Parker, Lydia, and Caleb; brother, Billy Brantley and his wife Dorothy of Riddleville; and special niece, Denisa Brantley.
