Mr. Jimmy Rudolph Claxton, Sr., age 78, of Heards Bridge Road near Davisboro, died Monday, May 19, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hope United Methodist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. The Reverend Ron Dixon will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tommy Logue, Matt Logue, Neil Claxton, Jordy Williamson, Brian Sims, Tim Chapman, Cecil Woodard and Brian Durham.
Mr.Claxton was born in Johnson County the son of the late Lovett Lamar Claxton and the late Carriebell Blount Claxton. He is predeceased by his wife Lena Gail Davis Claxton. Mr. Claxton was a longtime employee of Lapp Insulator where he retired as a Kiln Fireman. He was an active member of the New Hope United Methodist Church where he served as an usher. Mr. Claxton was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors are his children, Cindy C. Jordan and her husband Stanley of Deepstep, Jimmy R. Claxton, Jr. and his wife Tammy and Martha C. Johnson and her husband Glenn all of Davisboro; grandchildren, Erica S. Welch and her husband Kevin, Rex Smith, Glenda J. Deitz and her husband Daniel, Dustin Johnson and his wife Ashley, Heather Johnson, Lauren Claxton, Jacob Claxton and Eric Smith; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Claxton and his wife Patsy of Wrightsville; a sister, Carolyn Logue and a sister-in-law Grace Claxton both of Wrightsville.
The family will be at the residence Jim and Tammy Claxton on Heards Bridge Road and they will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
