Mr. Jimmy Lindsey Sr., age 68, of Tennille, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 28th at 2:00pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Rev. L.T. Logue will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jason Lindsey, Steven Lindsey, Thomas Lindsey, Chuck Watkins, Mack Boatright, Johnny Durden, and Dustin Durden.
Mr. Lindsey was born in Washington County the son of the late Jessie L. Lindsey and the late Trudie Kitchens Lindsey. He retired as the City Superintendent for the City of Tennille after 41 years of service. He also formerly worked as a part time police officer for the city. Mr. Lindsey was a member of the Olive Hill Baptist Church and a founding member of the Oconee Hunting Club.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wanda Elaine B. Lindsey, sons, Jimmy Lindsey Jr. (Deborah) of Sandersville, Mark Lindsey of Tennille and Allen Lindsey (Ann) of Sandersville, grandchildren, Jason Lindsey, Thomas Lindsey, Steven Lindsey, Alexandria Lindsey, Nick Carroll, Jeromy Carroll, Charles Carroll, April Watkins and Barry Ezell, fourteen great grandchildren, a brother, J.H. Lindsey of Gibson and sisters Catherine L. Leverett and Rosalee Brown both of Sandersville.
The family will be at the Lindsey residence 339 Burdett Street in Tennille and will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
