Mrs. Joan May Law, age 79, of Atlanta, died on July 21, 2017, in Atlanta after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.

A memorial service for Mrs. Law will be conducted at the Cathedral of St. Philip on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 11:30 A. M. with a reception to follow the services, in Child Hall at the Cathedral.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan's name to Atlanta Botanical Gardens, 1345 Piedmont Avenue N E, Atlanta, Georgia 30309.

Mrs. Law was a native of Baldwin County, the daughter of the late Wilbur May and the late Nell Babb May.  She was the granddaughter of the late Gordon Smith May and the late Mary Cummings May of Washington County.  Mrs. Law grew up in Augusta and was a former Miss Augusta.  She was a former flight attendant for Delta Airlines.  She had lived in Atlanta for many years.  She was an avid gardener and became a master gardener and member of the Peachtree Garden Club and was a lifetime Trustee of the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.  She received a Horticultural Committee Award in 1983 from the Garden Club of America and was a past president of the Atlanta Flower Show Association.

Survivors are her husband of 59 years, William F. Law, Jr. of Atlanta; daughter, Amy Law Raley and her husband Zak of Evergreen, CO. and their four children, Savanna May Raley, Sheridan Odessa Raley, Sawyer Ann Raley and Soren Tyr Raley; son, Philip Fleming Law and his wife Laura Saffer of Atlanta and their two children, Katherine O'Brien Law and William Fleming Law II; sister, Joyce May Daniel of North Augusta, SC; brother, Burke May of Ponte Vedra. FL; local cousins, Francis A. May of Sandersville, Hubert May, Jr. of Warthen and E. K., May of Tennille.
