Joan Simmons

Miss Joan Simmons, age 74, of Milledgeville, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 in Washington County ECF following a brief illness. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Baldwin Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville, Georgia.  Reverend Dr. Brian Welch will officiate.

Joan was born and raised in Tennille, Georgia.  She attended Washington County Public Schools and worked in the medical field for many years in various positions.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Genette Mimbs, her father, John Sidney Simmons, her stepfather, Russel Mimbs, and her partner, Larry Prosser and by twin babies John and Catherine.

Miss Simmons is survived by sisters, WyVonne Chapman and her husband Jerry of Buford, and Connie West and her husband Bob of Sandersville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dogs, Toby, and Prissy.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the home of Bob and Connie West, 925 Kittrell Creek Road, Sandersville, Georgia.
