Mrs. Joann M. Evans, age 79, of Linton Forest Drive, Sandersville, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025, at her residence following an extended illness. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Tennille Baptist Church. Reverend Tony Mimbs and Reverend Andy Carter will officiate.
Joann was born in Washington County and reared in Jenkins County. She was a homemaker and lived in Millen, until she and her husband Joe relocated to Sandersville in 1971. Joann remained a homemaker and also worked as the bookkeeper for her husband's plumbing and electrical business. She loved to travel, especially to the casino in Cherokee, NC. Fishing in the lake at her home or cooking for family and friends were some of Joann's favorite pastimes. She cherished her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Joann is predeceased by her parents, Lynell Mixon and Maude Cordry Mixon and one son Ronnie Adams.
Survivors include, her husband of 60 years, Joe Evans of Sandersville; sons, Marty Evans and his wife Lori of Macon, Jody Evans and his wife Shelia of Sandersville and Todd Evans and his wife Melissa of Warthen; her daughter-in-law Eloise Adams of Sandersville; grandchildren, Carin Jones (Michael), Ainsley Jones (Joey), Bethany Adams, Zachary Evans, Mason Evans, Max Evans, Myles Evans, Josh Evans, Haley Evans, Brittany Boone, Cheyenne Kirk and Piper Kirk; great grandchildren, Carter Young, Harper Young, Sally Tanner, Avery Jones and Holden Jones; her sister-in-law Sally Mixon of Savannah and best friend Jane Randall of Riddleville.
