Joe Barron

Mr. John Oscar "Joe" Barron, age 73, of Warthen, died Thursday, November 26, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness.   A graveside funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, November 28th at 2:00 p.m. in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille.   Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend William Moody will officiate.   Pallbearers will be Tommy Rachels, Jimmy Walton, Donnie Morgan, Joel Cochran, Kevin Rachels, Walt Parker, Joe Kitchens and Regina Walton.

Joe was a native of Washington County, the son of the late William Thomas Barron and the late Mavis Cook Barron.  He was reared in Tennille and graduated from Washington County High School.  Joe began his working career with the Georgia Department of Transportation prior to working for Lapp Insulator from which he retired.  After retiring, Joe began a second career in law enforcement working with the Washington County Sherriff's Office, Chief of Police for the City of Davisboro and finally with the Central State Hospital Police.  He was a member of Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene and formerly attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  Joe and his wife Ann loved to travel especially to the Georgia Mountains.  He was an avid gun enthusiast and collector.  Joe's wife Ann Yarbrough Barron predeceases him as well as siblings, Lina Barron Faulk, Buddy Barron, Randel Barron, and Butch Barron and his uncle, Henry Barron.

Survivors are his children, Jon "Brent" Barron and his wife Sherri of Waverly, Tracy B. Welch and her husband Daniel of Sandersville, and Travis Barron and his wife P.J. of Warthen; grandchildren, Chayce Welch, Addison Welch, Brylee Welch, Benjamin Barron, Hannah Barron, Brayden Barron, Bailey Barron, Justin Barron and Mattie Grace Barron; siblings, Sylvia Hart of Warthen, and Nick Barron of Oregon; niece, Kelli Jackson and his faithful friend, "Speck".

The Barron family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Pruitt Hospice Care and the wonderful group of health care providers, Lynn McDonald RN., Tiffany Colston, RN., Shannon Blizzard, MSW., Roger Holley Chaplin, Cathalene Rick, CNA., and Carolyn Deckle, CNA.

Friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until Noon at the Funeral Home using socially distancing practices.
