Joe Malone Raines

February 21, 1958 — August 14, 2023

Mr. Joe Malone Raines, age 65 of Harrison, passed away on August 14, 2023, at his residence following an extended illness. A graveside memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Harrison Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jeff Raines officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Raines was born in Sandersville, and raised in Harrison, the son of the late James Malone Raines, and the late Martha Elizabeth Jackson Raines. He was a graduate of Washington Johnson Community School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Mr. Raines, or “Joe Buddy” as he was better known by those who knew him best, meant a lot to a great many people. He enjoyed hunting and gardening, especially being able to share what he grew with those he loved. He also loved to cook and was known for his pepper jelly. Joe’s greatest passion in life was his grandchildren.

Mr. Raines is survived by his daughters, Lawren Raines Vachon, of Richmond Hill, and Allena Raines Beall and her husband Lee of San Marcos, TX; grandchildren, Preston Pagan, Nathan Vachon, Joe Vachon, Cade Beall, Chloe Beall, and Aidan Beall; brother, Jimmy Raines, and his wife Cathy of Harrison; sisters, Judy Page and Jackie Raines, both of Sandersville; and many other family and friends.
