Joe Scarboro

Mr. Joe Scarboro, age 83, of 2097 Tennille-Harrison Road in Harrison died on Tuesday, July 08, 2014, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 11th, in the Harrison Baptist Church. The Reverend Andy Carter will officiate.

Mr. Scarboro was a native of Jefferson County, Georgia, the son of the late Clayton James Scarboro and the late Hattie Pollett Scarboro. He was a retired washer mill operator for Thiele Kaolin Company and a mechanic. Mr. Scarboro was a member of the Harrison Baptist Church. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and he was also a ham radio operator.

Survivors are his wife, Leonnell Tharpe Scarboro of Harrison; a daughter, Vickie Scarboro McCoy and her husband W. D. of Wrightsville; three sons, Joe Scarboro, Jr. of Duluth, John Gregg Scarboro of Harrison and James Craig Scarboro of Harrison; seven grandchildren, Nerina Wood, Aaron McCoy, Marisa Guerrero, Kaitlyn Scarboro, Brian Martin, Tyler Scarboro and Cole Scarboro; seven great- grandchildren, Ryland McCoy, Blythe McCoy, Austin Vinklarek, Talon McCoy, Addison Guerrero, Maci Wood and Karter Wood.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening.
