John Thomas Duggan, Jr.

Mr. John Thomas Duggan, Jr. age, 91 of Club Forest Drive, Tennille, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026. A graveside funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, September 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Reverend Andy Yates will officiate.

Mr. Duggan was born in Davisboro, son of the late John T. Duggan Sr. and the late Callie Bell Logue Duggan. He was reared in Sandersville and graduated from Sandersville High School. John was drafted to serve in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and also served in the Georgia National Guard at Fort Mead, Maryland during the Berlin Crises. When John returned home from his military duties, he began his working career with Southern Bell Telephone Company. He later created Duggan Hardware downtown Tennille, in which he owned and operated for 27 years. Lastly, John worked in maintenance for the Georgia Department of Corrections for 16 years, until his retirement. John was an active member of Tennille Baptist Church serving as a former chairman of Deacons, board of trustees, the building and grounds committee and pastor search committee. He was a proud member of the Political Pond fishing club and cherished his time fishing and hunting. He was also an avid coon hunter, known for all night hunts with family and friends. John managed his own residential rental property. He is predeceased by his wife, Barbara Little Duggan and siblings, Mable Turner and Tommie Chalker.

Survivors include his sons, John Thomas Duggan III “Tom” and his wife Wendy and Shane Lee Duggan and his wife Kara all of Tennille; grandchildren Haley Duggan, Callie Duggan, Thomas Duggan, Skylee Duggan, Matalyn Duggan and Bristal Duggan; great granddaughters, Mckinlee Smith and Paislee Smith and nieces and nephews.
