John W. Harrell Jr.

Mr. John W. Harrell Jr. age 72, of Sandersville, died Monday, July 28, 2008 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 30th at 10:00 am at the Sandersville United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Brown and Rev. Jimmy Cason officiating. Pallbearers will be Ed Averett, Danny Craft, Ralph Chandler, Gary Mercer, Randy Brannen, Phil Smith, and Wade Dawson. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 4:00pm at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Lakeland with Rev. Pat Patten officiating. Pallbearers will be Don Scarborough, Gary Scarborough, Elbert Scarborough, Shane Danforth, David Folds, and John Merritt.

Mr. Harrell was born in Lanier County the son of the late John Washington Harrell Sr. and the late Ruth Mae Patten Harrell. John was retired Probate Judge of Lanier County where he was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Lakeland where his father was a former pastor. Mr. Harrell was also a former member of the Lakeland Lions Club. John currently served as pianist for the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church and was a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church.

Survivors are his wife Angela Scarborough Harrell, of Sandersville, daughters, Rosemary H. Sirmans (Tim) of Valdosta, and Joan H. Averett (Tarver) of Sandersville, grandchildren, Avery Allen Sirmans, MaeLee Corinna Averett, Edward T. Averett III (Tori) and Laura A. Marris (Kevin), two great grandchildren, sisters, Rosa Mae H. Gamel and Mary Blanche H. Sloan both of Valdosta and nieces and nephews.
