Mr. John Dayral “Jack” Carlson, age 88, of 6172 Linton Road in Sandersville died Wednesday morning, December 15, 2010, in the Tennille Retirement Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 18, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Marlon Lastinger will officiate with burial in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Carlson was a native of Ridgeway Pennsylvania, the son of the late John Alcot Carlson and the late Harriette Martinson Carlson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Carlson, and a sister, Jill Carlson. He was a graduate of the Newark College of Engineering and was an engineer for Bell Phone Company and taught at the Sandersville Technical College. Mr. Carlson was a decorated Navy Lieutenant during World War II. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a former member of the Sandersville Lions Club.
Survivors are his wife, Alice S. Carlson of Sandersville, a daughter, Beatrice “Bonnie” Robinson of Oklahoma City , Oklahoma, two brothers, Jim Carlson of Calison, NJ and H. Neil Carlson of Berkeley Heights, NJ.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday.
