Mr. John Paul Jones Sr., age 72, of Warthen Georgia, died peacefully at home Saturday, January 22, 2022 following an extended illness. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
Mr. Jones was born and raised in Dexter Missouri, the son of the late John Ivy “Ivan” Jones and the late Wanda Belcher Williams. After graduating high school, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served abord the USS Saratoga. While in the Navy, he traveled the world and was a member of the Navy Swimming Team. Following his service to his country, John began a career in logistics working for IML Freight Company in both St. Louis MO., and Dayton Ohio. In 2015, he relocated to Washington County to be near family. John had a passion for collecting and trading native American artifacts. He loved to fish as well as grow a large garden where some of his specialties were blackberries and raspberries. In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by two brothers, David Louis Jones and Larry Belcher Jones.
Survivors include, his children, John P. Jones Jr. and his wife Lisa of Warthen and Natalie Anne Jones of Lee’s Summit, MO.; grandchildren, John Landon Jones and his wife Brittany, Logan Odell Jones and Avah Jones Taylor; siblings, Wanda Sue Jones Yount Bellers of Lenexa, Kansas and Ronnie Lee Jones and his wife Becky of Piggett, AR.; the mother of his children, Sondra Lamont Eubanks, of Indepencence, MO.; and nieces and nephews.
