John Ronald Lord

August 5, 1943 — December 28, 2018

Mr. John Ronald “Ronnie” Lord, age 75, of Sandersville, died Friday, December 28, 2018.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 31 st at 11:00 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens.   Reverend Gary Mimbs and Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate.   Mr. Lord’s nephews will be serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Lord was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late John L. Lord and the late Edith Johnson Lord.  He began his working career with Goodyear Tire Company and then the Washington County Sheriff’s Department prior to working for the Georgia Department of Transportation from which he retired.  Ronnie was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and a former member of the Kiwanis Club.   He loved cooking, reading, old cars and especially his dog.   His brother, Royce Lord also predeceases him.

Survivors are his wife, Rachel Turner Lord, of Sandersville; son, Greg Lord and his wife Renee of Riddleville; grandchildren, Katelyn L. Fussell and her husband Josh of Snipesville, Mitch Lord and Jonathan Lord both of Riddleville; sisters, Evelyn L. Story of Warner Robins, Elizabeth L. Foskey of Centerville, Phyllis L. Lewis of Macon, Barbara L. Jones and her husband Rick, Angela L. Raines and her husband John and Dale L. Haywood and her husband Ricky all of Sandersville; and sisters-in-law, Florene Brown and Regina Walton.

The family will be at the Lord residence on Lynwood Drive and they will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
