John Wesley Rhodes, Jr.

Mr. John Wesley "Johnny" Rhodes Jr., age 73 of Tennille, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022.  A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, February 10 th , at 11:00 a.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.  Neil Pittman, Stacer Helton, John Brooker Sr., Bruce Hodges, Mandel Waters, Rick Jackson along with employees of Rhodes and Son Landscaping will sit as an honorary group.

Johnny was born in Fayetteville North Carolina and reared in Tennille, the son of the late John Wesley "J.W." Rhodes Sr. and the late Barbara Gault Rhodes.  He attended Washington County Schools prior to enlisting in the U.S. Air Force.  Johnny returned home following his service to his country and began a career in the Kaolin Industry.  He worked as a welder and fabricator for both American Industrial Clay Company and English China Clay International.  In retirement, Johnny worked for Midstate Auction and currently served as "head of security" for No Limits Pawn.  Johnny loved the outdoors, fishing, and hunting.  He had passions for firearms and for building and crafting things.   Johnny lived life simply, loving his family and his beloved pets.  In addition to his parents, Johnny is predeceased by two children, Shannon R. Everett and Wesley Allen Rhodes.

Survivors are, his children, Rusty Rhodes and his wife Belinda of Sandersville and Crystal R. Weyrauch and her husband John of Ramer, AL.; grandchildren, Austin Rhodes, Christin R. Smith and her husband Shelton, Brice Rhodes, Seth Everett, Colton Everett, Alyssa Everett, Chase Everett, Caleb Everett, Hunter Sherwood, and Emma Sherwood; and siblings, Linda Marchman, Penny Warren, and Eddie Rhodes and his wife Tammy all of Sandersville.

Donations may be made to the Rhodes family support fund, P.O. Box 1016, Sandersville, GA. 31082.
