John Gregg Scarboro, age 53, of Harrison, died Sunday, February 12, 2017. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Harrison Baptist Church, with burial in the Church Cemetery. Reverend Andy Carter will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Cullens, Justin Husty , Mike Kitchens, James Moxley, Marc Tanton, Bruce Oliver, Tim Phillips and Tommy Brantley.
Gregg was born in Laurens County. He was currently employed by Thiele Kaolin Company where he worked in production. Gregg had a lifelong love of horses and was trained as a horse farrier. He possessed a great passion for his family and for going on trial rides with friends. Gregg was a member of the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church and he is predeceased by his father, Joe Scarboro Sr.
Survivors are: his mother, Leonnell Tharpe Scarboro of Harrison; siblings, Joe Scarboro Jr. of Duluth, Vickie Jo Scarboro McCoy and her husband W.D. of Wrightsville and James Craig Scarboro of Harrison; nieces and nephews, Nerina Victoria Wood and her husband Jay, Marisa Guerrero and her husband Adam, Aaron Daniel McCoy and his wife Jessica, Kaitlyn Scarboro, Brian Scarboro and his fiancé Johnna Chambers, Tyler Scarboro, and Cole Scarboro; and great nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the Scarboro residence on Tennille-Harrison Road and they will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
