Johnnie Jones, Jr.

Mr. Johnnie Jones, Jr., age 84, of Riddleville Road, Sandersville, died on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, at 2:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Sisters Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverends Fred Morrison and M.D. Cabe will officiate. Pallbearers will be Todd Weaver, Randall Jones, Mike Jones, Donald Lindsey, Jimmy Harris, and Lynn Brantley.

Mr. Jones was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County the son of the late Johnnie Jones, Sr. and the late Willie Pearl Dye Jones. He was a self-employed painter and a former employee of the Holmes Canning Company. Mr. Jones was a member of the Jackson’s Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. His sisters, Mary J. Andrews and Christine J. Watts; and his brother Lamar Jones, all predecease him.

Survivors are his siblings, Harvard E. Jones and his wife Mary of Sandersville, Mabel J. Hodges of Louisville, Nellie J. Powell of Sandersville, and Robert M. Jones and his wife Jan of Savannah; and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
