Johnnie B. Purser

Mr. Johnnie B. Purser, age 90, of Sandersville died Friday, January 24, 2014, in the Oconee Health Care following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 27th, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Gary Mimbs will officiate.


Mr. Purser was a native of Bleckley County, Georgia, the son of the late John Purser and the late Lennie B. Jones Purser. He was a retired employee of the Thiele Kaolin Company in the lands department. Mr. Purser served in the Merchant Marines and the Army during World War II.


Survivors are his wife, Edna P. Purser of Sandersville; a son, Wayne Purser and his wife Nancy of Sandersville; a daughter, Deborah Elaine Lowery of Milledgeville; four grandchildren, Elaine Penter, Chris Lowery, Shannon Wilson and Micalya Purser; and four great-grandchildren, Gabe Penter, Timothy Penter, Alexis Wilson and Taylor Wilson.


The family will greet friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Monday.
