Mr. Joseph Harris Kennedy III, age 69, of Tennille died on Monday February 1 in the Veterans Hospital in Dublin following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 3, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial to follow in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate.
Mr. Kennedy was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Joseph Harris Kennedy, Jr. He was a 1965 Graduate of Washington County High School, a graduate of Middle Georgia College, and a graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in electrical engineering. Mr. Kennedy was a former electrical engineer with Ogeechee River Electric Membership Cooperation and Dry Branch Kaolin Company. He was a member of the Tennille Baptist Church. Mr. Kennedy was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors are: his two daughters, Shawn Kennedy Crosby of Milledgeville and Dawn Irene Kennedy of Atlanta; a granddaughter, Ashton Crosby; his mother, Dorothy Anderson Kennedy of Tennille; a sister, Delcie Kennedy Everett of Tennille; and a brother, Derek Stacer Kennedy and his wife Annette of Tennille.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service.
May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
