Josh Sheram

June 7, 2001 — September 14, 2020

Josh Sheram, age 19, of Sandersville, died Monday, September 14, 2020 at his residence in Statesboro.  A memorial service celebrating Josh’ s life will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hitchcock Barn on Old Savannah Road south of Tennille. Eric Channell, Larry Giles, Nathan Hodges and Chad Waller along with family and friends will speak at Josh’s service.  A time of celebration through music will occupy the latter portion of the service.

Josh was born and raised in Washington County, growing up in Deepstep and Sandersville.  At an early age in life he discovered a love of music through learning to play the guitar from his grandfathers, John Darity and Larry Giles.  He was a 2019 graduate of both Washington County High School and Georgia Military College through dual enrollment.  Josh was very active in the Washington County High School choral program where he used his talent with the guitar.  He was currently attending Georgia Southern University pursuing a degree in Education. His love of playing in bands began in High School with the 4-H Clover and Company Band and continued with the Soul Shine Band, the Trombone Band and with Chyann Rose, touring throughout the Georgia and the South East.  Josh also loved to hunt and fish.  He was a mentor to many and known to family and friends as a “gentle giant” full of an overwhelming amount of kindness.

Josh is survived by his mother, Kerri Sheram (Eric Channell) of Sandersville and his father, Zach Sheram of Deepstep; his sister, ToriBeth Sheram of Sandersville; his maternal grandfather, John Darity and his wife Martha of Tennille; and paternal grandparents, Wayne Sheram of Sandersville and Beth Hall Sheram Giles and her husband Larry of Deepstep.  He is predeceased by his maternal grandmother Carol Mote Hudson.

The family will be at the Darity residence on Massey Road Tennille, and also at the Giles residence on Jasmine Lane in Deepstep.

Donations may be made to the Washington County High School Fine Arts Program, C/O Washington County Board of Education, 501 Industrial Drive, Sandersville, GA 31082.
