Joyce Smith Mckee

Joyce Smith McKee, age 78, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021, at Northside Gwinnett Medical Center following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Josey Baptist Church in Bartow, Georgia with burial in the church cemetery. Minister John William McKee, Jr. and Minister Newman Clark Smith, Jr. will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Josey, Wayne Josey, William Josey, Randy Smith, Donnie Smith, and Jeffery Meeks.

Ms. McKee was a native of Washington County, the daughter of the late Newman Clark Smith, Sr., and the late Emily Elizabeth Smith. She moved to the Atlanta area as an adult and spent most of her working career as a contact lens inspector with Ciba Vision. Joyce loved people and truly enjoyed investing her time to care for others. She was a wonderful cook and was particularly good at making homemade pickles. Joyce loved to vacation in Florida and also spend time gardening. Her greatest pleasure in life was to spend time with her family, especially her granddaughters. Her dog. Oreo. was one of her most treasured companions.  Joyce was a person of deep faith and was a member of Charismatic Christian Center in Lawrenceville.

Joyce is survived by her children, Cindy McKee of Lawrenceville, Georgia and John William McKee, Jr. of Dayton, Tennessee; granddaughters, Isibealla Hope McKee and Alexis Juliette Marie McKee; sister, Joan Dey and her husband Ronald of Bartow, Georgia; brothers, Newman Clark Smith, Jr. of Bartow, Georgia, Charles Thomas Smith of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Timothy Smith of Bartow, Georgia; and nieces Ruth Cain and her husband William, and Shalena McCoy and her husband Jammy.

The family will greet friends on Friday, November 26 at Josey Baptist Church in Bartow, Georgia from 12 noon until the hour of the service.
