J.P. "Jack" Jackson

August 26, 1929 — April 13, 2010

J.P. “Jack” Jackson, age 80, of 507 Anthony Drive, Sandersville died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 16 at 2:00 P.M. in the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Warthen with burial in the Bethlehem Church Cemetery. Rev. Tim Powell will officiate. Pallbearers will be Rick Jackson, Josh Jackson, Ken McDonald, Keith McDonald, Jay Wheeler, Bobby Fitzgerald, and Danny Deraney.

Mr. Jackson was a native of Hancock County, Georgia the son of the late Pauline Smith Jackson and the late Joshua Pierce Jackson, Sr. He was predeceased by a brother,
David Evans Jackson. Mr. Jackson served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator before his retirement, and a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Stella Sue Sargent Jackson, three sons, Sterling “Sonny” Jackson (Teresa) of Sandersville, David Michael Jackson of Canton, and Richard Evans Jackson of Sandersville, a sister, Cecelia Jackson Wheeler of Jasper, four Grandchildren, Angie Wiggins, Rick Jackson, Josh Jackson, and Mackenzie Jackson and 5 Great Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the May & Smith Funeral Home.

The family suggests donations be made to Nightingale Hospice, 606 W. Court Street, Wrightsville, Georgia 31096.

May and Smith Funeral Directors of Sandersville is in charge of these arrangements.
