Juanita Moore Johnson

Mrs. Juanita Moore Johnson, age 100, of Eatonton, died June 29, 2008 at the Washington County Extended Care Facility in Sandersville. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 13, at 4:30 pm at the Pierce Memorial United Methodist Church in Sparta. Rev. Marvin Mason will officiate.

Born in Hancock County, Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late John Owen Moore and the late May Turner Moore and she is predeceased by her husband Iverson Starnes Johnson, three brothers and her sister.

She was a graduate of the Georgia State College for Women, in Milledgeville, and spent her working career with the Hancock County Department of Family and Children Services as a caseworker. She was a member of the Pierce Memorial United Methodist Church. After retirement, Mrs. Johnson lived on St. Simons Island where she was a volunteer at Epworth By the Sea and a member of the St. Simons United Methodist Church. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution.

Survivors are her daughters Joann J. Collins (Jack) of Eatonton and Bette J. Callaway (John W.) of Sparta, grandchildren, Lisa Collins of Tennille, Cindy England of Greensboro, Dianne C. Sheppard (Cliff) of Sandersville, John Iverson Callaway (Carol) of Sparta, great grandchildren, Faith Collins Hyman of Atlanta, Trey Sheppard (Emily) of Sandersville, Mitch Sheppard of Sandersville, Brian Renfroe (Ashley) of Gordon, Christopher Callaway of Sparta, and Joseph Callaway of Sparta, and great-great grandchildren, Ford Sheppard, Anne Marie Sheppard, and Emerson Sheppard.

The family will receive friends in the Social Hall of the Church following the memorial service until 6:00pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations may be made to, the Pierce Memorial United Methodist Church, 21 Boland Street, Sparta, GA. 31087.
