Judy Cranford Dixon, 84, passed away on April 17, 2026. She was born on May 11, 1941, to the late Isabel and J. Newman Cranford.
Judy devoted her life to family, faith, and community. She spent her entire adult life working alongside her beloved husband, Herbert Dixon, at Cranford Jewelers, a family business founded by her parents. Through the years, she helped carry on a legacy of dedication, craftsmanship, and personal connection that meant so much to those they served. One of her greatest joys in her work was helping brides select their china, flatware, and crystal—guiding them with care and pride to choose pieces that would become part of their homes and lives for years to come.
A longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Moultrie, Judy’s faith was a guiding light in her life. In recent years, she made her home in Sandersville, where she enjoyed being close to family.
Judy found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She loved gardening and took pride in nurturing things to grow. Above all, she treasured her grandchildren. She delighted in their world—quick to play, to dress up, and to join in whatever brought them happiness, creating memories they will carry with them always.
She was a devoted and loving wife who cared deeply for her husband and family. Judy had a quiet way of taking care of everyone around her—always present, always giving, and always putting others before herself.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Judy is survived by her husband, Herbert Dixon; her daughters, Jennifer Dixon Ahrens (Scott Ahrens) of Sandersville, Georgia, Catherine Dixon Cavner (Hollis Cavner) of Jupiter, Florida, and Jacqueline Dixon McNamer (Russ McNamer) of Flower Mound, Texas; her cherished grandchildren, Will and Isabel Ahrens; Carson Cavner; Benjamin, Joseph, and Ephraim McNamer; her sister, Carolyn Elkin Chastain; and her sister-in-law, Marie Cranford, wife of her brother, the late Dr. J. Newman Cranford II.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 20th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home in Moultrie, Georgia. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 21st, at 11:00 a.m. at West View Cemetery in Moultrie, led by Reverend Rick Turner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Methodist Home for Children and Youth at https://www.themethodisthome.org/donate/.
Judy will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her steady presence, and the love she shared so generously with those around her. She spent her life taking care of others, and her love will continue to surround her family always.
