Mrs. Julia Mae Martin Holton, age 83, of Warthen Street in Sandersville, died Monday, April 6, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8th at 11:00am at the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church with burial at 4:00pm at the Holton Family Cemetery in Alma Georgia. Rev. L.T. Logue will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gary Mercer, Glenn Pulliam, Vernon Tooke, Mike McLester, John Chandler and Wade Dawson.
Mrs. Holton was born in Pike County Mississippi, the daughter of the late Willie O. Martin and Amanda Newman Martin. She was a retired educator working for the Lowndes County and the Washington County Boards of Education. She served in ministry along with her late husband at the Azalea Baptist Church in Valdosta and the Naylor Baptist Church in Naylor, often serving as the church pianist. Mrs. Holton was a current member of the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church and is predeceased by her husband Rev. Donald H. Holton.
Survivors are her children, Rhonda H. Harmon (John R.) of Warthen, and Ron R. Holton (Robin Lynn) of Loganville, grandchildren, Shonda J. Beal and Noah Josey (Erica) all of Sandersville, great grandchildren, Caroline Beal, Desirae Beal, and Chad Josey and her sister-in-law Jewel Claire Wallin of Alaska.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8pm at the May and Smith Funeral Directors, 1119 Riddleville Road, Sandersville.
