Karen Denise Thomas Foster, age 56, of Sandersville, died Monday, October 18th in a Macon Hospital following an extended illness. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, October 22nd at 2:00 p.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Randall Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Karen was born in Augusta, and reared in Milledgeville where she graduated from Baldwin High School and lived most of her adult life in Washington County. She began her working career in cosmetology, but soon followed her lifetime love of growing and tending to plants. She possessed a true "green thumb" and used her talents in the "green" industry working for both the Flower Garden in Sandersville and Jackson's Greenery in Wrightsville. Karen loved to read, go fishing, and travel to the beach. She is predeceased by her father, Teddy Gene Thomas.
Survivors are her daughters, Jenee Whiddon and her husband Justin and Aimee Shelton and her husband Austin all of Sandersville; granddaughter, Lillie Shelton; mother, Sandra Tanner Gazaway of Milledgeville; sister, Sherri Marshburn and her husband Robert; niece Brianna Marshburn; aunt Patricia Boatright; her fur baby Max; and many extended family members.
