Karen Denise Shirley

Karen Denise Shirley, 66, St. Simons, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on December 19, 2022.

Karen was born in Augusta, Georgia on February 27, 1956, grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, lived in Thomson for many years and moved to St. Simons in 2018.  She loved music, especially 50, 60 and 70’s music and loved spending time with family and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Jean Newsome Johnson.  Her survivors include her father, James Shirley, her sister, Donna Joiner; her step-father, Leonard Johnson, nephew, Shayne Woods; former brother-in-law, Ken Joiner; special friend, George Phelps; and numerous cousins.

Her visitation will be held at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 10:30 a.m.  Her funeral service will be held in Beggs Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
