Kason Anderson, age 31, of Sandersville, died Saturday, August 21, 2021 in an Augusta Hospital. A public funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, August 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the Hitchcock Barn on Old Savannah Road, Tennille. Reverend John Maynard will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kyle Watkins, Josh Ford, Chris Mitchell, Josh Phillips, Matthew Anderson and Keaton Tapley. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow officers of the Louisville Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff's office. The family will receive friends following the service on Thursday at the Barn. Friends are welcome to pay their respects on Wednesday from Noon until 4:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville with family not present.
Kason was born in Augusta and reared in Sandersville graduating from Washington County High School in 2008. At an early age, Kason found a love of fishing and became a master marksman. He graduated from East Georgia College with an associate degree in criminal justice and where he was a part of the disc golf team. Kason began a career in law enforcement with the Washington County Sheriff's office as a jailer prior to becoming a certified law officer and joining the road patrol. In his first year of work, he was awarded "Rookie of the Year". Currently, Kason was employed by the City of Louisville as a police officer. Kason committed himself to a life of service to others. He was a volunteer with the Sandersville Fire Department and was a certified first responder. Kason was a member of the Resurrection Church in Louisville, and he was a member of the Tennille Masonic Lodge #256.
Kason is survived by his fiancé, Emily Thompson of Aiken, S.C.; mother, Windy Anderson Brantley and her husband Richard; father, Harvey Welch and his wife Julie; siblings, Crystal Welch, Gabriel Anderson, Cameron Brantley, Nathan Brantley, Josh Welch and Jeremy Bennett; grandfather, Gary Anderson of Sandersville; uncle, Shannon Anderson and his wife Aimee; nieces, Violet and Hazel Purvis; and parents of his fiancé Emily, Ken and Karen Thompson of Aiken S.C.
