Mrs. Kathryn “Kay” Beggs, age 77, of Hamburg State Park Road, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2022, at Heritage Inn in Sandersville following an extended illness. A funeral to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church on Hamburg State Park Road, Mitchell, Georgia, at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Russell Brown will officiate. Pallbearers will be Caleb "Beau" Fulmer, Jimmy J. Bender, Joey Kitchens, Joseph A. Beggs, Sr., Tyson Wiggins, Chad Beggs, Skyler Beggs, and Joseph A. Beggs, Jr.
Mrs. Beggs was born in Annapolis, Maryland, the daughter of the late Donovan F. Gannaway and the late Kathryn M. Wayson. She is best known to most in the community from her time working at Playhouse Nursery in Sandersville where she cared for so many babies and children. Mrs. Beggs also worked at Thiele Kaolin, where she retired. She loved her time spent on the family farm and enjoyed doing anything that involved being outdoors. Mrs. Beggs was a wonderful mother and grandmother and loved her family above all else. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Charles Gannaway and Donovan Gannaway; and grandchildren, D. Sheldon Tracy Beggs, Carly Teresa Beggs, and Samantha Carol Beggs.
Mrs. Beggs is survived by her children, Raymond Beggs (June) of Gibson, Joseph Allen Beggs, Sr. and Steven Beggs (Jessica) both of Mitchell, Genie Witherington, Keith “Sandy” Beggs, and Patricia Shapiro; grandchildren, Ashlee Rowlen (Chris), Chad Beggs (Skyla), Blake Godbee, Cecily Gunby (Aaron), Hailey Pintor-Diaz (Reynaldo), Joseph Allen Beggs, Jr. (Kristin), Tyson Wiggins, Madi Beggs, Steven Tyler Beggs, David Skyler Beggs, Tyson Lape, and Michael Hammond; great grandchildren, Allee Washington, Rustin Washington, Logan Gunby, and Wyatt Gunby; and special friends, Charlotte Rader, Janet Reno, Janice Yarborough, and Jamie Kitchens.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 7, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
