Kelly Sue Simpson Pernell

Kelly Sue Simpson Pernell, age 59, of Kite, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in an Augusta Hospital following a short illness.  A graveside funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 15 ^th at 11:00 a.m. in the Riddleville Cemetery.  Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate.

Kelly Sue was reared in Riddleville and graduated from Washington County High School. Following high school, she began working at McDonalds prior to a long career as a bus driver for the Washington County Board of Education where she retired. She was also employed at Washington Regional Medical Center. Kelly Sue loved to fish and travel to the beach. Most of all, her favorite thing to do was being with family, especially her grandchildren.  Her parents, Eugene and Frances Crooms Simpson, siblings, Faye S. Bussell and Ann Simpson, and nephew, Sammy "Peanut" Bussell all predecease her.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Shane Pernell of Kite; daughter, Amber Orce Wilcher and her husband Steven of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Alisa Wilcher, Ryan Wilcher, and Eden Wilcher; and siblings, Kay S. Chandler and her husband John of Harrison and Danny Simpson and his wife Carole of Sandersville.

The family will receive friends at graveside, and they may be contacted at the home of Kay and John Chandler on West Twin Lane in Harrison.
