Mr. Kenneth David Jayne, age 86, of Riddleville, in Washington County Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, October 23rd, at 2:00 p.m., New Bethel Baptist Church near Riddleville, with Reverend Marty Deal officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield IL. with military honors. Mr. Jayne's family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the Church.
Mr. Jayne was born and reared in Thayer Illinois, son of the late Albert Steven Jayne and the late Mary Louise Howarth Jayne. He graduated from Virden High School. He joined the US Navy at an early age and served active duty on the USS Constitution and also served in the US Navy Reserves following active duty. Mr. Jayne settled in Newburyport Massachusetts where he began a long career in the Insurance industry as an adjuster, primarily on automobiles. He became a car enthusiast, formerly owning Jayne's Auto Body Shop and also operating a driving school. Mr. Jayne was a health-conscious person often seen running, walking or biking. In 2021, he relocated to Washington County, Georgia to be near family. He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church near Riddleville.
Survivors include his children. Julie Jayne and her companion Dennis Crowley of Chester, NH., Kenneth Jayne Jr., of Amesbury, MA., Stephen Jayne and his wife Cynthia of Newburyport, MA., Maureen Davis and her husband Frank of Riddleville, GA., Brenda Schwechheimer and her husband Adolf and Gerald Jayne and his wife Merry Gourley of Bend, OR.; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and his sister Janice St. Gemme of Boerne, TX.
