Lamar Silas Jones

Mr. Lamar S. Jones, age 71, of Wadley, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 31st at 11:00am at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Sisters Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Donald Thigpen will officiate. Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post 94.

Mr. Jones was born in Washington County the son of the late Johnny Montgomery Jones and the late Willie Pearl Dye Jones. He was retired from the Civil Service as a mechanic at Fort Gordon and a member of the Wadley Baptist Church. Mr. Jones was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 94. He is predeceased by his wife Kathryn Pollett Jones.

Survivors are his children, Clifford Allen Jones (Tracy) of Macon, Shane Stephen Jones (Anita) of Hawaii, and Sharon Kathryn J. Meadows (Darin) of Perry, 13 grandchildren, brothers, Johnny Jones and Harvard Jones (Mary) both of Sandersville and Robert Jones (Jan) of Savannah and sisters Mable J. Hodges of Louisville and Nellie Ruth J. Powell (Virgil) of Sandersville.

The family will be at the residence of Harvard and Mary Jones on Ridge Rd. in Sandersville and will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
