Lanny Carl Barron

Mr. Lanny Carl “Jelly” Barron, age 71, of Sandersville, died Thursday, November 28, 2013. Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 1st, at 2:00 p.m. at the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. The Reverend L.T. Logue will officiate.

Mr. Barron was a native of Washington County the son of the late Lee Harris Barron and the late Ruth Welch Barron. He retired from Imerys as a heavy equipment operator after a 30 year career in the Kaolin Industry. He was a member of the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Jelly loved his goat farm, Atlanta Braves Baseball, Georgia Football and to hunt and fish. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandsons. He is predeceased by his brothers, John Edward Barron and George Barron.

Survivors are his wife, Cynthia Goodman Barron of Sandersville; his daughter, Carla Barron Wallace and her husband Lance of Lilburn; grandsons, Barron Elliott Wallace, Harris Goodman Wallace and Carlton Fulghum Wallace; and his sister Martha Barron Nichols of Stockbridge.

The family will be at the Barron residence on South Linton Forest Drive and they will receive friends Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
