Mr. Larry Troutman Tanner, age 68, of 280 River Road in Wrightsville died on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Tanner was a native of Washington County. He was the owner and operator of Georgia Truck Parts. Mr. Tanner was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion, an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and also a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church.
Mr. Tanner is predeceased by his father Marvin Troutman Tanner and his daughter Laurie Tanner Sullivan.
Survivors are: his wife, Gail Sanders Tanner of Wrightsville; his mother Nell Veal Tanner; his children, Allen Tanner and his wife Angel of Blackshear, Denise Tanner and fiancé Dwayne Davis of Dublin, Melinda Brantley of Wrightsville, and Damian Thompson of Wrightsville; step children, Kenneth Brantley, Tony Brantley, and Kristy Brantley all of Sandersville, and Billy Brantley of Atlanta; thirteen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Little of Danville, Pam Lord and her husband Anthony of Wrightsville; his brother, Rex Tanner and his wife Angela of Dublin; a beloved friend and caregiver, Marie Keyton of Wrightsville and nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the Tanner residence, 280 River Road in Wrightsville and will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 19, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Antioch Christian Church Cemetery in Oconee with military honors.
May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
